2- Why did Mr. Dolphus Raymond’s fiancee die? What does this show the reader about life in Maycomb?

3-Jem says that “mixed” children are sad because they don’t belong anywhere. What does he mean? Is having a sense of belonging important in life? Explain.

4- Judge Taylor’s appearance and his ability are two different things. What comment might the author be making in building the judge this way?

5- Symbolically, what does the physical structure of the court house show us about the people of Maycomb?

6- Why didn’t Atticus tell his children that he had to defend Tom Robinson, that he was appointed by the court and didn’t really have a choice about taking the case?
Why do the four men give up their seats for Jem, Scout, Dill, and Reverend Sykes? What does this show us?

7- As the examination begins, Atticus’ table is bare. What does this show us?

Answers

Answer 1

1. We can see here that Mr. Dolphus Raymond is a wealthy white man who has chosen to live with a black woman and their mixed-race children. He pretends to be a heavy drinker and has a reputation for being the town drun'ard.

2. Mr. Dolphus Raymond's fiancee died of an overdose after discovering that he had fathered children with a black woman. This shows the reader that life in Maycomb is deeply racist and intolerant of any kind of racial mixing.

3. Jem means that mixed-race children do not fit neatly into either the white or black communities in Maycomb and therefore do not feel like they belong anywhere.

Who is Mr. Dolphus Raymond?

Mr. Dolphus Raymond is a wealthy white man in Maycomb who is known for his unconventional behavior. He is often seen drinking from a paper bag and is rumored to have mixed children.

4. The author may be commenting on the superficial and often misleading nature of appearances. Judge Taylor may not look like a typical judge, with his disheveled appearance and casual manner, but he is still a capable and fair judge.

5. The physical structure of the courthouse in May-comb is described as being old, run-down, and lacking in modern amenities.

6. Atticus didn't tell his children about the details of the case or why he had to defend Tom Robinson because he wanted to protect them from the harsh realities of racism and injustice.

7. The fact that Atticus' table is bare at the beginning of the examination shows us that he is unafraid and confident in his defense of Tom Robinson.

I was overwhelmed by the many faces and the voices which I could not understand. High above me was a white face which my mother told me was the face of the judge. Across the huge room sat my father, smiling confidently, looking at us. In written work, context clues help explain the meaning of a word or phrase?

Answers

The term "context cues" refers to the pieces of information that can serve as hints for a reader to understand the meaning of a word or section that is unfamiliar or strange.

How do context cues work?

A reader or listener can "decipher" any words with unclear meanings by using context cues, which are helpful indications and clues inside a sentence, paragraph, or larger context. In order to determine the intended meaning of a word having several meanings, we can also make use of context cues.

For instance, the context cue email in the phrase "Sorry I didn't notice your email, it ended up in my spam" informs us that the speaker is referring to their spam box rather than processed meat. Simple context cues include things like visuals, synonyms, and antonyms. Or, they might necessitate a little extra effort, such as analyzing the syntax of the sentence and determining the word's required part of speech.

This poem ends and repeat the first stanza, therefore making the first and last verse the same. What effect does this have on the story?

Answers

This poem ends and repeat the first stanza, therefore making the first and last verse the same. This is called as envelope poetry.

The envelope verse is the act of repeating a line or stanza in poetry, either exactly or with minor alteration, in order to encapsulate the remainder (or portion) of the poem between its two appearances. A stanza may start and end with the same line, or a poem may start and conclude with the same line or stanza, each line or stanza in a poem that starts and ends with the same word. It serves as a means of completing the verse. It was known as dúnadh by the ancient Celts, and it is a distinctive aspect of Celtic verse. The triolet is an eight-line poem with the identical two lines at the start and finish that was once popular in France. An illustration is found in "The Tyger" by William Blake. Stanzas, which are verse-only sections, are separated from one another by a line space.

In narrative poetry, they typically capture a specific moment of action, however in lyric poetry they are employed to add musicality and repeat melody.

A debate on why schools should be 4 days a week. Atleast (4) four paragraphs

Answers

In America, majority of public schools require five days a week with only two days off. Despite the amount of time students spend in school, they might not be learning as much as you'd think. About 22% of highschoolers were failing post-pandemic. So maybe what we really need is more hours a day in school, rather than more days.

There are many reasons why schools are debating the 4 day a week school week. There might be a lot more pros if school decides on a 4-day school week. The first reason being, from already performed studies. The students who already have 4 day school weeks say having to spend more time in school is worth the Monday off. More time can be spent in each class, making sure students indulge in what they're learning rather than going through the motion of short periods each day. By the time students settle into class and are ready to learn, the bell rings. So having more time to have focused students would be very beneficial in the classroom.

The next reason is flexibility. Having a 4 day school week gives our teachers and administrators a whole weekday for their errands, meetings, appointments, etc. This means teachers will miss less time with their students. Having a substitute is sometimes detrimental to students learning. Especially if the same class has an absent teacher often. Giving our teachers an extra day means teachers will spend more time helping those students who need it, and less time without a teacher.

Lastly, mental health. (I'' add later)

Martin Luther King always believed peaceHe never used violence he used his voice to fightNever used his hands he fought to endRacism, voting, employment, and many more
And from him using his voice it workedWe got better jobs we all can workWe can go to good schools
